For many years different marketing techniques have been implemented to try and target a specific age group to sell a product. TV and Film work in this same way. Many companies such as Disney and Dreamworks create animated movies to target a younger crowd. When a child becomes interested in these films or shows, they instantly feel like they need to see it on the spot. Children are not old enough to experience a term know as delayed gratification. When dealing with movies, parents are now responsible for taking them to see the film. Now the company sells not one ticket for the child but another for the parent that brings them. This is one strategy companies use to increase their viewing audience. In addition, other types of of TV and film feature focus on targeting an older audience. In many cases the topics consist of older material. This material will include things such as killing and drug content.
There has always been speculation and discussions about the influences that film and TV have on certain ages. People are concerned whether or not certain content
is suitable for specific ages. This all lead to the development of the rating system. This system gave a preview of the content in every show and film to determine whether the material applied to certain ages. Today content shown on TV and in Films have become so believable , people are now concerned if the audience will become to influenced by the material displayed. There is no preventing this issue. It is only up to the viewer whether or not they choose to let the content affect the way they go about their actions. Overall, the media has drastically influenced society. Film and TV have targeted all different ages to the point of concern. In some cases , clothing and hair styles have been changed as a result of one movie or TV show. When all is said and done, It is only up the the audiences and the viewers the determine if the media is going to affect their decisions.
